The 7th edition of Lisbon, Law & Tech took place on November 4 and 6, featuring a slightly different format this year. The 2025 conference adopted a hybrid model while maintaining its hallmark focus on the complex intersection between law and technology.
The opening day was dedicated to Portugal’s public administration and its innovation challenges, offering participants the opportunity to attend an on-site session at Abreu Advogados’ auditorium.
Following the welcoming remarks by Miguel Teixeira de Abreu, Founding Partner of Abreu Advogados, the audience had the privilege of hearing from Gonçalo Matias, Minister in the Cabinet and of State Reform, who delivered a keynote address on Public Administration and the Challenges of Implementing New Technologies.
A subsequent roundtable brought together a distinguished panel of experts to explore the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in the public sector, addressing topics such as data governance, regulatory frameworks, and the ethical use of emerging technologies.
The second day of the conference focused on another pressing issue in today’s legal landscape: e-Discovery. This session examined the automation of document review and evidence management, and how AI-driven tools are reshaping litigation and compliance processes. The panel, moderated by Maria João Melícias, Co-Head of Competition, Regulation & EU at Abreu Advogados, brought together practitioners and academics to discuss practical case studies and evolving best practices in electronic discovery.
Across both days, renowned national and international experts contributed forward-looking insights on the future of the legal profession, the impact of technological change on law, and the broader implications for society.
